2025 Cryptozoic Batman Hush Essentials encapsulates the massive and memorable comic story arc that helped define the character in the early 2000s. Think of this as a somewhat deep dive into the 12 issues from a trading card perspective.
The first release from Cryptozoic under the “Essentials” banner, it’s intended to look at several aspects of the subject matter with some premium elements but not to the degree that it’s considered high-end. With that, there isn’t the usual promise of a sketch card per box like a lot of the card maker’s other DC releases over the last decade-plus. And while there are some autographs, they’re very scarce.
2025 Cryptozoic Batman Hush Essentials Checklist Details
The base set recaps issues of Batman #608-619, a run that spanned from October, 2002 to September, 2003. This is the storyline of Hush. Written by Jeff Loeb and featuring art from Jim Lee (pencils), Scott Williams (inks) and Alex Sinclair (color), it’s one of the most acclaimed runs in the comic’s history. Images take directly from the panels inside the book with info on the back.
Four levels of parallels are available: Blue Sparkle Foil (#’ed/50), Gold Prismatic Foil (#’ed/20), Printing Plates (1/1) and Black Brilliance Lava Foil (1/1).
The biggest chase in the product are autographs from creators Lee and Loeb. That said, they land 1:13,000 packs and have just five copies each. So ten signatures across the entire production run.
Five other insert sets are part of the 2025 Cryptozoic Batman Hush Essentials checklist. Alternate Covers, Annotated Covers, Dynamic Duels and a Double-Sided Puzzle all have nine cards and relatively easy odds.
A new batch of STR PWR cards are also available. Spotlighting characters with sparkle foil, these are numbered to 608.
All standard inserts have an assortment of parallels that overlap with much of the base set.
