Finally, a set of X-Files trading cards with autographs. Granted, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson aren’t among them, but there are still signed cards after a handful of previous releases. Based on the feature film, 1998 Topps X-Files: Fight the Future trading cards dig into the story, go behind the camera and finally offer collectors something somewhat premium for the franchise.
1998 Topps X-Files: Fight the Future Checklist Details
The base set has 72 cards. It follows a similar pattern to Topps’ season-based X-Files sets. The majority of the content is a recap of key plot points. There are also character profiles and some behind-the-scenes cards.
Autographs are inserted 1:72 packs, which translates into 1:3 boxes. The names encompass secondary characters (at best). William B. Davis (The Cigarette-Smoking Man) and Mitch Pileggi (Skinner) are the most recognizable faces.
1998 Topps X-Files: Fight the Future has just one other insert set. Six Mystery Cards (1:12 packs) use heat-sensitive technology to reveal images.
