Upper Deck has announced they have acquired the portfolio of photographer Don Wingfield. From the 1940’s through the 1970, Wingfield’s subjects ranged from presidents to ball players. He was the on-field photographer for Notre Dame’s football team and had his work appear in The Sporting News and Look. Wingfield is credited for making some of the first “action” pictures highlighting the shear physicality of sports.
Upper Deck’s acquisition has more than 6,000 photos. They will be incorporated into future card sets and into the Upper Deck Authenticated program.
