2011 Rittenhouse True Blood Legends marked the trading card debut for the HBO show. Not a full release, rather it’s a small, character-driven set that was intended to expand over time.
The checklist includes 27 total cards, nine each for Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) and Hoyt Fortenbury (Jim Parrack). They also act as a mini set of sorts with the same numbering of C1 through C9. That said, they came together as a full 27-card factory set.
Both sides of the card have an image of the featured character but no addition text beyond their name and the show’s logo.
The set has a production run of 500 sets with each character’s final card being serial numbered.
A second batch of Legends cards followed in 2013 highlighting Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) and Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer). That was it, though. The line didn’t go on for the long run like it was originally envisioned.
Rittenhouse also released a custom binder for the set that included an exclusive promo. This might be the toughest Legends card to find today, although the modest print runs and direct layer of distribution of the main sets ensure they’re not overly common, either.
