The 2023 Topps Star Wars NYCC Sparkle Packs were an exclusive incentive to those already getting in early on an upcoming product. Unlike the 2023 New York Comic Con promo set, though, these weren’t free. Collectors had to make a purchase to get one.
Topps was on hand at the convention with boxes of 2023 Star Wars High Tek, a product that isn’t expected to get it’s full hobby release for at least a couple of months. Those who bought a High Tek box also received one of the Sparkle packs.
The set has 20 cards, all of which have their roots in the 2023 Topps Star Wars flagship design. The big difference in the look is the borders. Rather than being plain, they’re done with a sparkle foil and have some added pop.
Each card highlights a different character, going all the way back to the 1977 original through to recent television shows.
Several parallels add a tougher chase to the set. These include Blue Sparkle (#’ed/75), Gold Sparkle (#’ed/50), Orange Sparkle (#’ed/25), Red Sparkle (#’ed/5) and FoilFractors (1/1).
