2008 Topps Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trading cards are a lot like the movie they represent. They have their moments, but many aspects are rather dull. This is one of three sets of Indiana Jones trading cards that Topps put out surrounding the film. It was a Star Wars approach that proved to be too much for the franchise and it shows here.
The base set has 90 cards. It’s a standard set-up with a few character cards and the rest dedicated to the story. A testament to the set’s high print run, all 90 cards have Foil Skull parallels numbered to 350 copies. However, they land just one per hobby box.

Autographs are the top inserts. However, at 1:78 hobby packs, they’re not the most common. Harrison Ford is present, although in minuscule quantities. The same can be said for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Should any of these three show up, expect the cards to fetch four figures.
The autograph checklist actually has several key names beyond these, though. They include Shia LaBeouf, Karen Allen, Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone and John Hurt.
Allen and Igor Jijikine actually have two different autographs. Each have a retail-exclusive variation.
Additional Inserts
Sketch cards are the more common of the premium inserts. These land 1:35 hobby packs and contain art done directly on the card. The quality of the artwork varies greatly. Generally speaking, the more detailed and colorful the art is, the more value it holds. Artist and character are also contributing factors.
Sketch cards were plentiful in all three of Topps’ Indiana Jones trading card sets from 2008. This means a glut on the marketplace that exists still today.
Ten Foil cards wrap up the main insert chase. That said, Walmart and Target packs each have their own five exclusive foil cards that are similar except for the background color. Retail packs also have nine Peel and Reveal Treasure cards.
