2004 Artbox Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Update trading cards fill in a lot of the gaps left from the first release that came in the spoiler-free theatrical release zone. From a quality and checklist standpoint, this set is just as good, if not better. However, the print runs were ramped up in a big way making it that much harder to find top cards.
The 90-card base set picks up from where the numbering of the earlier set left off. It focuses on many of the special effects shots and big moments that weren’t available before. The clean design is maintained throughout.
2004 Artbox Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Update Autographs
Despite jumping from ten cards to 18 signers, Update Autographs are 1:110 hobby packs. That’s more than twice as tough as the original series. Even taking short prints into account, a little quick math shows just how much more was printed here. But that’s largely irrelevant now as most of the the boxes have long since been opened.
So from a checklist perspective, the 2004 Artbox Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Update Autographs are better than the first set. For starters, both Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint join Emma Watson this time around. The film’s lead stars also signed a tripe autograph that is, arguably, the best Harry Potter autograph card in existence. It’s also among the most valuable.
Additional Inserts
Costume cards are inserted one per hobby box. All are serial numbered and come from a wide variety of characters. Prop cards are back as well. Similar to costume cards, they’re numbered. Props are also tougher to pull.
Cinema Filmcards were introduced in this set. These have a pair of film cels from a movie print embedded in them. Inserted 1:80 hobby packs, all nine of the cards are numbered to 900.
