At a glance, the 2001 NECA Nightmare Before Christmas Autographs don’t look very inspiring. All four of the cards come with a generic backdrop with the moon acting as the signing space. But when you stop to think about the signatures a couple of them deliver and all of a sudden it’s not so bad.
The autographs checklist kicks off with director Tim Burton. To date, this is the only set he has a certified autograph in. Burton was slated to appear in Inkworks’ Sleepy Hollow set but the final cards never came to be. Several of his other films like Planet of the Apes and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory both prominently featured autographs. However, Burton wasn’t among them.
This is also the lone set to have an autograph of Danny Elfman. For the most part, composers aren’t driving forces behind autograph checklists. Elfman, one of the most prolific soundtrack composers in movie history, is certainly an exception.
Chris Saranndon, voice of Jack Skellington, and Glenn Shadix, voice of the Mayor, round out the 2001 NECA Nightmare Before Christmas Autographs set.
Odds for the inserts were never released.
Both NECA and SkyBox have made other sets for The Nightmare Before Christmas. However, this is the only one to have autographs.
