Although the show only lasted two seasons (only one of which was good), the 2002 Topps Dark Angel Autographs continue to have a strong secondary market life in the hobby. That’s thanks to a pair of the most desirable entertainment trading cards of the new millennium.
Jessica Alba is easily the most popular of the Dark Angel autographs. The actress rose to fame in large part because of her role as the tough and beautiful Max on the show. Even today as she’s moved more into the role of entrepreneur over acting, the Dark Angel Jessica Alba autograph card still commands hundreds, if not more.
While not as valuable, James Cameron autograph in the set is still very desirable. He’s the director of some of the biggest blockbusters of all-time. In fact, Avatar and Titanic are among the top-grossing films of all-time. Both were made with Cameron behind the camera. This card is one of the few exceptions in the hobby where a filmmaker’s signature is legitimately desirable. Usually they’re some of the least desirable in products.
The 2002 Topps Dark Angel trading cards have eight total autographs. All of them except Byron Mann are only in hobby packs. They combine to land about one per box, although they have different rates. Cameron is the toughest, followed by Alba. That said, neither is ridiculously short-printed compared to what you might find in a lot of other products.
Mann is the only autograph available in retail packs. His signature lands 1:78 packs.
