2023 Topps Garbage Pail Kids We Hate the 70s takes things back to the decade of disco and lots of questionable fashion choices. It follows similar 1980s and 1990s-themed releases. The big difference this time is that it’s not a full hobby and retail release. Rather, We Hate the 70s takes a slow-drip, online-exclusive approach with six different mini waves spread over six weeks.
2023 Topps Garbage Pail Kids We Hate the 70s Checklist Details
Every wave consists of ten cards, sending up celebrities, movies, consumer goods and other trends that were popular in the 1970s. In standard GPK format, each card has different A and B name variations so it’s actually five pieces of art each week. Veteran Garbage Pail Kids artists Brent Engstrom and David Gross provide the artwork.
In addition to the ten main cards, each weekly set also has a Sepia parallel.
One order from each wave is also randomly selected to receive a piece of original artwork used for one of that week’s cards.
Each wave is available for one week starting on Thursdays. It’s a print-on-demand product so numbers for individual waves varies.
