2023 Kakawow HotBox Mickey & Friends Cheerful Times marks the second set of Disney trading cards celebrating the Chinese company’s 100th anniversary. Its themes and styles are quite different from the earlier chromium Phantom Disney 100 Years of Wonder release.
Rather than covering a broad scope of Disney history, Cheerful Times sticks to Mickey Mouse and some of his closest acquaintances. And while there are lots of inserts and chase elements, there aren’t a lot of low-numbered cards like 100 Years of Wonder has.
2023 Kakawow HotBox Mickey & Friends Cheerful Times Checklist Details
The base set is actually quite small with just 24 cards. All are based on characters from the Mickey-verse, mainly those who appeared in various shorts. Of course, there are the big names like Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy but the Cheerful Times checklist also has some deep cuts like Beep-Beep the Atom, and Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse.
All 24 cards have Refractor parallels as well. Landing every third pack, these have a reflective surface that shines bright under light.
A handful of insert sets, some large than the base collection, are also on the 2023 Kakawow HotBox Mickey & Friends Cheerful Times checklist.
Packs have one of 62 different Sticker Cards. These go together to form several comic strips.
Poster Cards (54 cards, 1:3 packs) recreate some of the art used to advertise classic shorts.
Mickey and Minnie Mouse star in Alphabet Cards (1:5 packs). Each has a foil card for each of the 26 letters making for 52 total.
Final Frame Collection (36 cards) has stills from beloved cartoons while eight 3D cards (1:10 packs) use lenticular technology to flip between images.
