2019 Topps Stranger Things 1985 is one of the show’s smallest releases. It’s also one of the toughest. Released as an incentive, cards were only available for a short time as a bonus for those ordering 2019 Stranger Things 2 blasters through the card maker’s website, which were likely collecting the proverbial dust at the time and not selling otherwise.
Each week for four weeks saw a different group of five cards put up as incentives with each wave being printed to order. Despite this, even the largest group, wave two, have only 325 copies each. Print runs for cards from the first and final waves came in at less than 200.
The 1985 theme comes through in the various designs of the limited set. Taking a similar approach as their Archives and Heritage brands, cards use different layouts from various sets put out in 1985. It’s a mix of sports and entertainment including 1985 Baseball, 1985 USFL Football, 1985-86 Hockey, WWF Wrestling Superstars, Rambo: First Blood Part II, The Goonies, Cyndi Lauper, Duran Duran, and Rocky IV.
