2012 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Magnets ask collectors to stick their favorite characters on things other than notebooks or sticker albums. It’s the fridge’s turn to act as a pop art showcase. The checklist might be small, but it still manages to mix in some classic GPK gags alongside some new ones.
The full set has 16 magnets. On the front, each looks like a standard GPK card save for the rounded corners and stiff magnetic stock. Original Series standouts like Adam Bomb and Beasty Boyd lead off the checklist. However, there are plenty of original characters only found here including Tony Starch, a play on Iron Man’s alter ego.
With gum a thing of the past, each pack of GPK Magnets included a couple of gummie candies. All came inside a die-cut foil pack with one of four characters: Adam Bomb, Ghastly Ashley, Potty Scotty or Beasty Boyd.
As far as Garbage Pail Kids go, this is a fairly forgotten set. Not being cards, it’s off of many collectors’ radars. As far as rarity goes, they fall in that in between where they’re not exactly scarce but not wildly common, either.
