2012 Cryptozoic Fringe Seasons 1 and 2 trading cards do the fan favorite show justice, particularly when it comes to autographs. However, perhaps its greatest impact came several years later when history stepped in and made one of the show’s secondary stars one of the world’s most intriguing people.
At a glance, this isn’t a complex release. Autographs and costume cards are both one per box. Beyond that, there are just a couple of additional insert sets.
2012 Cryptozoic Fringe Seasons 1 and 2 Checklist Details
The 72-card base set breaks down the key story elements and events of Fringe‘s first 43 episodes. The design is kept simple on the front with a full-bleed image taken directly from the show, the program’s logo and a short caption. Backs are done up to look like a file and notes. The same photo is used, albeit cropped, to go along with a short write-up.
Numbering for the set only goes up to #71. The checklist does not have a card number printed on it.
Autographs
The 2012 Cryptozoic Fringe Seasons 1 and 2 checklist features 17 autograph signers. Among them are the show’s three leads: Anna Torv (Olivia), Joshua Jackson (Peter) and John Noble (Walter). All three of these rank among the rarest autographs in the product, which shouldn’t be surprising.
The most valuable autograph in the product started out as one of the most affordable when the set came out. Megan Markle was, perhaps, best known for Suits around this time. However, once she marries Prince Harry, she became part of the royal family. This elevated her card tremendously, taking it beyond a standard Hollywood autograph and adding appeal within royal memorabilia. Although not the easiest autograph to pull in the product, according to Cryptozoic it is “uncommon” making it more plentiful than the rare signers.
Wardrobe Cards and Other Inserts
Every hobby box has a second hit in the form of a Wardrobe Card. Each of these has a piece of a costume from the show. Sixteen are available in packs with an Officer’s Jacket card coming with the set’s binder.
