2010 Rittenhouse 70 Years of Marvel is a retrospective set. It highlights landmark moments from seven decades worth of comics. Bringing things into the modern era, there are several modern trading card elements as well. The most notable of these? A full-color sketch card in every box.
2010 Rittenhouse 70 Years of Marvel Checklist Details
The base set has 81 total cards. Within that are a couple of sections, though. The first 72 make up the main set. Each card covers a different year from 1939 to 2009. The front has an image related to the 12-month span. Backs have a list of notable comics released in the same period. Number one issues, final issues and first appearances are some of the worthy moments. A corresponding cover image is also on the back.
The remaining nine cards are a Tribute subset that has three cards each of Captain America, Sub-Mariner and Human Torch. The images on these are painted while the backs go together to form a Captain America puzzle.
Adding a retro twist to the set, base cards are printed on cardboard stock.
Metallic Ink parallels are also available for all 81 cards with one landing every three packs.
2010 Rittenhouse 70 Year of Marvel Sketch Cards and Inserts
The color sketch cards mark the biggest chase in 2010 Rittenhouse 70 Years of Marvel. Nearly 100 artists contributed to the release including Katie Cook, Cat Staggs and Andy Price.
Clearly Heroic is another insert set that lands approximately one per box. These use acetate to spotlight marquee heroes like Spider-Man, Wolverine and Iron Man. With just six cards, the set isn’t too tough to put together.
Twelve Characters cards use the Marvel logo as the foundation to showcase a dozen characters. The die-cut set comes with 1:9 pack odds.
The final insert set available in packs is another throwback. Stickers (1:8 packs) has a total of 18 character-focused cards.
2010 Rittenhouse 70 Years of Marvel has a print run of 8,000 boxes. Each has a numbered sealed.
The set can also be called Marvel 70th Anniversary.
