2009 Rittenhouse Star Trek Movie trading cards launched the franchise reboot in grand fashion. While the checklist is deep in several regards, it’s the autographs in particular that make this set one of the strongest of the 00s.
The 81-card base set doesn’t go into a lot of depth as far as the story goes. This is understandable given the secrecy surrounding it and the fact that the set came out in conjunction with the theatrical release.
2009 Rittenhouse Star Trek Movie Autographs
Autographs and costume cards combine to land two per box. The 15-card autograph checklist features only a couple of signers with limited appeal. The vast majority are either key cast members (including virtually all of the new Bridge Crew) or actors with major projects outside Star Trek.
Signers include Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhara) and Simon Pegg (Scotty). One of the most common 2009 Rittenhouse Star Trek Movie Autographs belongs to Chris Hemsworth. Shortly after the movie came out, he was cast as Thor and became an instant star.
Additional Inserts
Although all 11 pack-inserted Costume cards are fairly standard, they’re not the only cards with material used to make the film. 2009 Rittenhouse Star Trek Movie also has three prop cards that were used as case incentives. Those ordering three cases got a Secure Order Attache card. For six cases, the bonus cards came with a badge from either a Starfleet member or a Starfleet cadet. The rarer Starfleet member card is numbered to 40 total copies. However, it has four different variations making all of them some of the rarest and most coveted Star Trek trading cards ever produced.
Other inserts include Behind-the-Scenes with J.J. Abrams (six cards, 1:9 packs), Stars (ten cards, 1:6 packs) and a six-card set dedicated to the U.S.S. Enterprise.
As far as print runs go, 7,500 boxes of 2009 Rittenhouse Star Trek Movie trading cards were produced.
