2008 Inkworks Kung Fu Panda trading cards may not have the traditional hits that a lot of collectors had come to expect at this point. The checklist has no autographs, no sketch cards and, understandably, no memorabilia cards. But does every product have to, particularly when the property is geared primarily at the younger crowd?
The result here is a colorful release that keeps things pretty simple but includes some fun card styles to give it some life.
2008 Inkworks Kung Fu Panda Checklist Details
The base set is a small one, with just 50 cards. While most of it acts as a summary of the movie, there are subsets dedicated to key characters and some of the special moves. A title card and checklist bookend things.
Three additional insert sets are also part of the checklist, none of which are particularly tough to pull.
Every pack has one of nine different Sparkly Stickers. Given how easy these are to put together, they’re sometimes packaged with base sets.
True Warriors Die-Cuts (six cards, 1:5 packs) give shape to Po and his friends.
Finally, Masters of Kung Fu (eight cards, 1:9 packs) use lenticular technology to show multiple images on every card. Just tilt and they switch.
Today, 2008 Inkworks Kung Fu Panda trading cards are largely overlooked. A big reason is likely the lack of chase content. That said, this has kept things affordable. And while not rare, it’s not a wildly common product, either so a little hunting or patience may be required for those who opt to piece it together.
