Topps kicked the hype machine into high gear for their Heroes license at the 2007 San Diego Comic-Con. Things started with a four-card promo card set that, when put together, form a small puzzle. They might be cool, but they’re far from the top Heroes trading cards they handed out at the massive convention. Five exclusive 2007 Topps Heroes San Diego Comic-Con Autographs are the ultimate cards for the franchise.
Limited to no more than 20 copies each, they were given away through a raffle draw.
Adding to their intrigue is the fact that the cards were signed following a SDCC panel.
The five actors were some of the biggest characters on the show, including Hayden Panettiere (Claire) and Milo Ventimiglia (Peter Petrelli).Sendhil Ramamurthy(Suresh), Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Patrelli) and Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman) are also on the checklist.
The cards are understandably very tough to find today. Those that were flipped were likely snatched up and added to permanent (or semi-permanent) personal collections shortly after being given out.
The cards have a different design from those included with the main 2008 Topps Heroes release. Those also use stickers as well. It wasn’t until Rittenhouse acquired the license after the show’s demise that any other on-card Heroes autographs were released. That set has, by far, the largest list of signers.
