Eight seasons in and Rittenhouse still manages to make Stargate trading cards interesting. 2006 Rittenhouse Stargate SG-1 Season 8 features another broad mix of cards including inserts, autographs and an expanded number of props. So even as the show gets deep into its run, the product still seems fresh when placed against its counterparts in the overall line.
The base set is where things feel the most familiar. But if there’s going to be something that’s the same, this is probably the place. It has 72 cards with each episode getting three. There’s also a header, some checklists and a handful of that look behind the camera at the making of the show.
Autographs and Inserts
Fourteen autographs combine to fall one per box. While none of Stargate SG-1‘s iconic leads are included on the checklist, there are still several notables including Claudia Black, Erica Durance, singer Isaac Hayes and Dan Castellaneta, best known as the voice of Homer Simpson and several other characters on the animated classic. In addition to these, a pair of Dual Autographs were distributed as case incentives for dealers.
Costume cards return, although they’re not quite one per box. That’s because they’re mixed in with five Relic cards. These have prop pieces embedded in them. All are paper-based pieces like maps and documents.
Leading the basic inserts are a pair of Kneel Before Your God cards. Inserted 1:480 packs, they’re extremely tough. The cards use a sparkle foil background to help them look the part as well.
Personnel Files are fold-out cards meant to mimic a folder. Nine are in the set with approximately two per box.
Twisted offers two looks at characters. Nine are included in packs. A tenth was available exclusively with the Rittenhouse Rewards program.
Lenticular Stargate In Motion cards returned in 2006 Rittenhouse Stargate SG-1 Season 8. To get them though, collectors had to go through a mail-away offer. You’d get one of the seven cards by mailing in a UPC code from a box.
