2006 Inkworks Supernatural Season 1 is one of those products that was somewhat underestimated when it first came out. But that’s part of the risk with a new license. You can’t make too much in case it flops. Don’t make enough and there’s a run on it. That’s what happened here. And while some of that has slowed a little in recent years, it’s still considered a benchmark release.
2006 Inkworks Supernatural Season 1 Checklist Details
The base set, which has 90 cards, is fairly typical for Inkworks. Much of it recaps individual episodes and ongoing threads. Save for the pilot, each of the 22 shows gets three synopsis cards. The remainder of the checklist looks at more of the show’s lore through things like characters, weapons and mythology.
Every 2006 Inkworks Supernatural Season 1 box has one of eight autographs. It’s a list that shows a good amount of depth. Headlining it are Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki who play brothers Dean and Sam. Secondary signers include Julie Benz and Amy Acker. These two actresses are also featured on Autographed Pieceworks cards.
Regular Pieceworks costume cards are also inserted one per box. A total of 12 are available in packs, although two are redemptions. Two additional cards that fit together to make a puzzle were given out as dealer incentives.
Other 2006 Inkworks Supernatural Season 1 inserts include the nine-card foil puzzle, Searching, and six Dead End cards.
Each box comes with one of three different Three Hunters cards. There’s also a case topper called Crash.
Before going out of business, Inkworks would make sets for seasons two and three plus a couple of spinoff releases. Cryptozoic would later pick up the license, but that wasn’t until several years later.
