2005 Inkworks Spike: The Complete Story Checklist

Spike was one of the best and most loved characters featured on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff, Angel. The bad boy vampire had a lot of layers. Perhaps that’s why he’s so interesting to watch. 2005 Inkworks Spike: The Complete Story gives him a set of trading cards to call his own.

The 72-card base set tells the history and lore surrounding Spike, drawing from his time on both shows. His friends and enemies and their connections to Spike also take up a sizeable part of the checklist.

Autographs are included one per box. As you’d expect, James Marsters who played the character, is one of the signers. Other key names include Julie Benz (Darla) and Juliet Landau (Drusilla).

In addition to the regular autographs, there’s a tough card signed by fantasy illustrator Boris Vallejos featuring his artwork. The art was also used for the nine-card foil puzzle in the product, Heart and Soul.

A pair of Pieceworks costume cards are randomly inserted. Both use pieces of leather coats worn by Marsters, one on Buffy and the other from Angel. Each card has an autographed version as well. All of the Pieceworks cards in 2005 Inkworks Spike: The Complete Story were distributed as redemptions.

The up and down relationship between the vampire and the slayer is touched on in Spike and Buffy, a six-card collection of inserts.

A redemption could be found good for a Palz figure. Done somewhat like Lego minifigures, they were produced by Palisades.
