The 2005 Artbox Doom trading cards might be the only good thing to come from the forgettable film. If you even remember that they did a movie based on the popular video game, you’re doing better than most. Is this set spectacular? As a whole, no. But there are a couple of spectacular autographs on the checklist. The set’s a tough one to find, too.
2005 Artbox Doom Checklist Details
The base set is a simple 72 cards. After a standard title card, there 11 character cards showcasing those in the film. The balance of the set recaps the movie with an image on the front, another on the back and detailed write-ups.
Every box of 2005 Artbox Doom includes an autograph. For most, this is the only reason to look at the set. Headlining the list of signers is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He has autographs in a couple of other sets based on more popular movies, but the professional wrestler turned actor is a big enough star to warrant massively valuable cards, even here.
Johnson is not the only notable name on the checklist. Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike also has an autograph in the set. Karl Urban and Doug Jones are among the other signers.
The 2005 Artbox Doom checklist has just one additional insert set, Rare cards. There are nine in the set with one landing every 4.8 packs.
Costume cards and prop cards were originally advertised for the set, something Artbox focused heavily on with other products like Harry Potter and 24. Once the set arrived, both were absent.
