Even if the movie wasn’t the blockbuster many were hoping for, the 2004 Inkworks Hellboy Autographs checklist is still fairly strong. Like the film, it’s not perfect, but it still captures most of the big names connected to it.
All told, there are seven cards in the set, which is manageable to start even today. Inserted 1:36 packs, they’re not tough to find either. However, things get a little complicated considering the fact that all were redemptions, redemptions that are no longer any good. So if you’re starting now, secondary market singles are the only option.
The 2004 Inkworks Hellboy checklist is led by Ron Perlman who was perfectly cast as the title character. Joining him is Doug Jones, who might not be a big Hollywood name but he played a major role in the movie as Abe Sapien.
The set’s most valuable (and rarest) card belongs to director Guillermo del Toro. His other movies include Pacific Rim and Pan’s Labyrinth.
Hellboy creator Mike Mignola also signed.
Selma Blair, John Hurt and Jeffrey Tambor are the big names that are missing. However, all three have autograph cards in other sets so it’s possible to build a Franken-set if you’re a big Hellboy fan.
