A hero is made by its villains. Do you think Batman would still be an icon without the Joker? Doubt it. Would there be 300 Luke Skywalker action figures if there weren’t 300 Darth Vaders to go with them? Nope. With that in mind, 2004 Inkworks Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Big Bads trading cards celebrate the evil things that stood in the way of Buffy and the Scooby Gang.
The base set has 72 cards. It’s broken down into different subsets based on hero characters and the bad guys, gals and ghouls they faced during the show’s seven-season run. Cards are done on foil board, giving them an upscale look compared to the seasonal Buffy the Vampire Slayer trading cards.
Pieceworks costume cards are inserted one per box. Autographs are absent from the set.
The remaining inserts follow a traditional Inkworks patter. Seasons of Evil (1:11 packs) is a nine-card puzzle that forms a greatest hits collage of Buffy villains. The Other Side (1:17) includes write-ups about Buffy Summers from the perspective of six different villains.
2004 Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Big Bads also has three box loaders and a case loader.
