The product might be for the fourth year of episodes but 2002 Rittenhouse Stargate SG-1 Season 4 is just the second set of trading cards for the long-running show. Overall, it has a similar feel to the Premiere Edition set from 2001, but it offers a greater number of premium elements.
The 72-card base set focuses exclusively on the episodes. All 22 get three cards each. There’s also a three-card puzzle to lead things off and three checklists at the end. The design is a little bit different. Rittenhouse added a Stargate-style border to the side of the card versus the initial set’s primarily full-bleed look.
2002 Rittenhouse Stargate SG-1 Season 4 Autographs and Inserts
Autographs are once again inserted one per box. Headlining the checklist are series stars Amanda Tapping (Major Samantha Carter) and Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson). 2002 Rittenhouse Stargate SG-1 Season 4 has ten different autographs, although just nine are in packs. Erick Avari (Kasuf) came with the set’s binder.
Every 2002 Rittenhouse Stargate SG-1 Season 4 box also comes with a From the Archives costume card. These were every other box in the first set. To meet the need, the checklist of costume cards was expanded from four to eight. Not all cards are available in equal quantities. About half as many of Anise/Freya and two Carter cards were made compared to the other five.
The product has some of the only official Stargate sketch cards. John Czop did two different cards, each of a different half of Teal’c’s face. Put together, they form a small puzzle of sorts. SketchAFEX cards are inserted 1:480 packs.
2002 Rittenhouse Stargate SG-1 Season 4 has three additional basic inserts. Goa’uld Technology (nine cards, 1:8 packs) and Dial-Us-Home (six cards, 1:6 packs) are both fairly easy to find and complete. Heroes in Action (four cards, 1:40 packs) is a little bit tougher.
