2002 Rittenhouse James Bond 40th Anniversary Preview trading cards are a small appetizer for what was to come. Arriving a couple of months before the full 40th Anniversary set came out, this gave collectors a taste of the ambitious release.
Consisting of six cards, the various James Bond actors are the focal point of the small factory set. Each gets their own card with a portrait on the front inside of the iconic bullet hole opening graphic. Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan are all there.
They’re actually on every card with smaller black and white shots running down the side of each card.
The sixth card, which is actually the first on the checklist, has the 40th Anniversary logo. It’s also serial numbered on the front to 2002 copies.
This is not the most complex or fancy set of James Bond trading cards in existence. It’s not overly deep or informative, either. However, the modest print run makes it one of the rarer ones out there. It’s also notable for being the first James Bond release from Rittenhouse who were taking over the license from Inkworks.
