2001 Inkworks Lara Croft: Tomb Raider trading cards are based on the movie that’s based on the video game. And while there might be some things that are lost in translation along the way, the set is a showcase for the movie’s star, one Angelina Jolie.
The 90-card base set recaps the film, its characters (yes, there’s more than just Lara), some gadgets and a little bit of happenings behind the camera. It’s not groundbreaking but it works, especially for a film with more striking visuals than plot high points.
Let’s talk autographs. 2001 Inkworks Lara Croft: Tomb Raider only has four of them. But one of them is among the most valuable among all modern movie sets. It’s not Julian Rhind-Tutt. The base set and regular inserts aren’t the only place where Angelina Jolie is found in the product. She has an autograph here that instantly ascended to great heights. And while it’s still extremely popular today, it has been known to fall victim to counterfeiting. If you’re thinking of spending the money on one, it’s best to buy one that has been authenticated by a reputable source.
Jolie is also featured on the set’s lone Pieceworks costume cards. Distributed via redemption, the card has a small piece of a screen-worn outfit.
