2001 Inkworks Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 5 trading cards show a company and a license hitting its stride. It has all the hallmarks of the previous releases, fleshing out the larger line. It’s not exactly innovative in that regard but when something’s successful, there’s probably no need to.
2001 Inkworks Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 5 Checklist Overview
The base set has 90 cards. All 22 episodes get three cards. The checklist fills out with a few different themed subsets focused on characters, monsters and the Buffybot.
Autographs continue to be the big insert draw. Among the seven signers in this release are two of the more popular actresses to come along later in Buffy‘s run — Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn) and Amber Benson (Tara). Like all of the show’s sets that came before it, odds were not released. Autographs were not a box guarantee.
2001 Inkworks Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 5 has a similar set of inserts as the other releases as well. Protectors of the Key is a nine-card puzzle. Six Big Bad Crush cards use edged foil to highlight the relationship between Buffy and Spike. The Slayer’s Gift is a single-card insert that lands 1:107 packs.
