Once upon a time, we were going to get a full set of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer trading cards. Granted, they were going to be a tie-in to a horrible direct-to-video sequel, but there were elements connected with the classic original. The sequel came out but not the cards — at least as a full, official release. 2001 Dart FlipCards Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Holofoils are part of an abbreviated factory set that touches directly to the Rankin-Bass masterpiece.
The set has six cards. Each takes a memorable moment from the Christmas special. The shiny foil stock gives it a slightly premium feel, especially for the time they were made.
The 2001 Dart FlipCards Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Holofoils came packaged with nine Movie Reels cards based on the sequel Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys. Needless to say, the Holofoils should have broader appeal.
The mini factory sets were capped off by an original sketch card.
