Despite being one of the most acclaimed genre shows of all-time, The Twilight Zone never got much attention in the hobby until Rittenhouse came along. For big-time fans, 1999 Rittenhouse Twilight Zone Premiere Edition trading cards may have been worth the wait.
Although it covers only a relatively small number of episodes, it was the launch of something that would continue over several releases. Together these sets can be viewed as a comprehensive whole.
1999 Rittenhouse Twilight Zone Premiere Edition is also the start of an extensive autograph checklist.
The 72-card base set highlights just 12 episodes. Each has six cards. There’s no obvious reason as to why these are the selected shows as they span all five seasons.
Autographs combine to land two per box. Leading the list of signers is some guy named William Shatner. Rumor has it he was in charge of a spaceship or something on another show. Other signatures in this set include Cloris Leachman, Richard Kiel and Donna Douglas. Over the years, the list of Twilight Zone autographs would include many more big names and acting legends — several of whom didn’t have many signed cards.
A pair of Commemorative Card inserts pay tribute to late series influencers including its creator, Rod Serling. There are also nine Twilight Zone Stars inserts that show some of the bigger names to appear on the show connected with the selected episodes here.
