The Fab Four have starred in several sets of trading cards over the years, but none quite like 1999 Comic Images The Beatles Yellow Submarine. Based on the animated film, what the product lacks in complexity is made up for by tremendous color.
The base set has 72 cards, charting the animated versions John, Paul, George and Ringo as they set out on a journey where they encounter the Blue Meanies. Fronts can’t be any more basic, offering a full-bleed image from the movie. Backs offer lots of depth, though, going beyond just the plot and digging into the production side of things.
Six Chromium cards are the lone inserts. Landing 1:24 hobby packs, there should be at least one per box but sometimes two. Chromium cards are not in retail packs.
