After Topps and before Rittenhouse, another company took a run with the Battlestar Galactica trading card license. 1996 Dart FlipCards Battlestar Galactica covers the original series in a way that’s more modern than simple the original release but not nearly as strong as later Rittenhouse sets.
The base set may be the best part of the product. Coming in at 72 cards, it’s a mix of stills and artwork. Put together, it’s a diverse look at the show and something more than simple recaps. The foil card stock gave it a premium sort of feel at the time, although it became a more common occurrence in the ensuing years.
1996 Dart FlipCards Battlestar Galactica has the distinction of having the first autograph card for the franchise. It has just one, but it’s from Richard Hatch, one of the show’s lead stars. The card is limited to 500 copies.
The only other inserts found in packs are six Gold Foil cards.
Boxes came with one of four different Big Boy box toppers. There was also a mail-away offer for an over-sized Tall Boy card.
