1996 Comic Images Elvira, Mistress of the Dark trading cards are all about the horror queen. Or is she a comedy queen? Either way, it’s dedicated to an icon whose star power now spans multiple generations.

The 72-card base set is all Elvira. Whether she’s modeling ghoulish gowns, celebrating various holidays or transformed into her comic self, every card includes Cassandra Peterson’s alter ego.Most are promotional shots, although there are some illustrated images as well. No matter the style, fun is an overriding theme.
Fronts are full-bleed with absolutely no text. It’s all about the image. Backs are loaded with tidbits and trivia. The text doesn’t necessarily connect to the image on the front but it stays the course being all-Elvira.
A couple of insert sets are also on the checklist. The first is a scarce autograph. Limited to just 500 copies, it’s extremely scarce today. However, when they do show up, not all of the signatures have aged well. Be very careful and look closely when considering these.
The six-card Spookshow introduces chromium card stock, giving images a metallic look. Most of these have Elvira sitting in a movie theatre, but there are a couple of others that branch out to other settings.
