For many, trading cards rank up there with wall walkers and stretchy sticky hands as some of the greatest treasures ever found at the bottom of a box of cereal. To that end, there’s 1995 Fleer Ultra Ralston Spider-Man, a promo set that came with specially marked boxes of the superhero’s cereal.
The set has five cards — one of the wall crawler and four featuring some of his most nefarious enemies.
Cards are branded under the Fleer Ultra banner, which ties into where different versions of the cards can be found. The art and layout is the same as the ClearChrome inserts found in the full 1995 Fleer Ultra-Spider-Man release. The Ralston cereal cards are standard cards. Backs also mention Ralston Foods next to the card number.
One card was included in each specially marked box, a nice compliment to the Kingpin-shaped marshmallows that were allegedly part of a balanced breakfast. If not, it got mornings (or late-night snacks) off to a fun start.
Today, cards aren’t all that common but they’re certainly not rare, either. Online, there’s enough that collectors can hold out for a solid price. Typically cards are available for under $5 each. They’re not expensive but they’re more than common Spider-Man trading cards.
