1994 Cookie Crisp Spider-Man trading cards are part of a promo set distributed inside cereal boxes. At least half of it was. The remaining cards were part of a mail-away offer connected to the promotion and are, not surprisingly, significantly harder to find.
The complete set consists of a dozen cards, each highlighting a different character from the Spider-Man Saturday morning cartoon that debuted in November, 1994.
1994 Cookie Crisp Spider-Man Checklist Details
Each card is done to resemble a film strip, drawing a further connection to the television show. Where things get a little strange is in the numbering. Rather than a traditional approach that starts at #1, they’re all given a frame number. The lowest is #11 and its goes up to #997 with cereal-inserted and mail-away cards mixed together. Basically, if you like to keep track of numbers to build the set you can, it’s just all over the place.
Backs have a short write-up on the character. The show’s logo is on top and Cookie Crisp is on the bottom to easily sort them from other Spider-Man promo sets from the same general period.
As far as food-issue trading cards go, 1994 Cookie Crisp Spider-Man is high-quality. Stock is glossy and the Marvel Comics logo is in gold foil. Each specially marked box included one card.
The six cards found in cereal boxes aren’t that hard to find today. To get the other six as well as an issue of Spider-Man Magazine, you had to send in two proofs of purchase from cereal boxes and $1.25.
