Part overview of the comic strip and part history of the first decade-plus of Jim Davis’ iconic creation, the set offers a broad look at Garfield and beyond.
1992 SkyBox Garfield Premier Edition Checklist Details
The bulk of the product is found in its 100-card base set. It’s broken down into almost a dozen different thematic subsets, each looking at Garfield in a different light. Comics Cast leads things off with the biggest section. These 21 cards are all about characters, offering profiles and even the date of their first appearance.
From there, it shifts into Garfield’s 9 Lives, which is based on the 1984 book that interprets the feline in a variety of forms. Evolution of Garfield shows how the character has changed while Garfield Cameos highlights nods to the cat found in other comics. Behind the Scenes does just that, looking at the production side of things. Trivia, the zodiac and quotes are among the other base set themes.
Sports card collectors may notice some designs that look familiar (but not necessarily exact) on the six Sports Spoofs cards.
1992 SkyBox Garfield Premier Edition has two additional insert sets.
Every pack has one of nine different Tattoos. These are often packaged with complete sets.
Five different Holograms go together to form a puzzle that spells “Garfield.”
