1992 Pepsi Universal Party Monsters Checklist, Trading Cards Info

Once upon a time, Dracula, the Wolf Man and the rest of the Universal Monsters crew were considered scary. Today? Not so much. The movies and legend live on but they’re more familiar than foreboding now. Sometimes, the fun is even embraced a little. Such is the case with 1992 Pepsi Universal Party Monsters trading cards.

The promo set includes six of the most recognizable Universal Monsters in familiar but different lights. The artwork is similar to that of legendary artist Basil Gogos. It’s rich in detail and texture. But there’s one major shift. Each of the monsters is living it up with added party décor. Being the early ’90s, that means lots of neon and bright colors. The borders will have you singing the Saved by the Bell theme song pretty quick, too.

Backs have a brief background bio as well as some additional personal information done questionnaire-style. The puns and dad jokes are very much alive.

Cards come in six-card packs, offering collectors the full set in one go. To get one, a qualifying Pepsi purchase had to be made.

Part of a larger promotional campaign, rarity isn’t much of an issue with these. The cards are somewhat overlooked and forgotten today, but that doesn’t mean that they’re scarce. They’re not too hard to find, especially given the ease required to make the set in the first place.
