1990 Comic Images Ghost Rider trading cards give an abbreviated look at the motorcycle-riding, flaming skulled Marvel superhero. Like many of the card maker’s Marvel sets at the time, it’s short on content but it does have some great comic art.
The full set is just 45 cards plus a one-per-pack header card. In that time, it covers key events from the Ghost Rider comic from its launch in the 1970s through to the time the card set was made. Fronts have a simple white border with a cropped image taken from the comics along with a one or two word caption. This is in line with Comic Images’ other Marvel releases from around this same time.
Rather than text, backs go together to form a black and white puzzle of the Ghost Rider #1 cover from 1973.
The end result is a simplistic set that doesn’t offer much in the way of background or depth unless one is already familiar with Ghost Rider. In that case, the set acts like colorful flashcards.
