1984 Kellogg’s Star Wars trading cards gave fans and collectors a little added incentive to give C-3POs. The set came as part of a limited time promotion for the cereal. It has a lot of familiar faces but the approach is a little different.
At its most basic, the set has ten cards with two buried in each specially marked cereal box. The cards are actually stickers with some of the franchise’s most familiar faces. Although it’s simply labeled as a Star Wars set, most of the images come from Return of the Jedi.
Where things get a little different is when you peel the stickers. Rather than having a blank backing behind it, these reveal a second image. The end result is a more traditional trading card. Of course, cards with the stickers in tact are considered more desirable and valuable.
A similar set was released around the same time in Canada. However, this one separates the stickers and backings to create a 20-card set.
