1984 Kellogg’s Canada Star Wars is one of the first sets to touch on all three films from the original trilogy. Although similar to the set released in the United States, there are some major differences that make this one distinct.
Totalling 20 cards, the set was available in specially marked boxes of C-3PO cereal. While the majority of the images are from Return of the Jedi, Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back are also present.
Backs describe some major story moments, but there’s not a lot of depth and some key revelations are skipped entirely. Write-ups are in both English and French, which is one of the differences from the American release.
The other is in how the set is structured. The Canadian set has 20 different cards, each standing on its own. The first ten are done as stickers and have brown backs. The second half of the set are traditional trading cards with white backs.
The U.S. release has just ten cards. However, each has two sets of images. The sticker makes up the top layer. Peeling it off reveals the second shot. The 20 total images in the American set line up with the Canadian release.
