1965 Donruss Disneyland Blue Back trading cards are some of the toughest out there for the theme park. A variation on Donruss’ Puzzle Back set from the same year, Blue Backs are significantly more scarce. That’s saying something when the Puzzle Backs aren’t as widely available as some other mainstream sets from the era.
1965 Donruss Disneyland Blue Back Checklist Overview
The Blue Back checklist has the same 66 cards as the Puzzle Back set. However, there are a couple of major differences. First off is the back. Instead of a puzzle piece, backs have the Disneyland logo and the write-up. And being called Blue Back, the color motif is indeed just that.
Fronts have a large image from the early days of Disneyland. There’s a mix of rides, characters and other attractions. The fronts are much cleaner and less cluttered than Puzzle Backs, which have the write-up on the front squished under the photo. The text is the same for both releases. It’s just which side of the card it’s on that changes.
If you go looking on the secondary market, you’re not going to find a lot of Blue Backs. But telling exactly how much more scarce the set is is difficult to tell. One way to get a general idea from the PSA population report of graded cards. As of November, 2022, fewer than 400 total 1965 Donruss Disneyland Blue Back cards had been inspected by the company. By comparison, nearly 3,000 Puzzle Backs had been graded. That’s a massive discrepancy that shows how tough Blue Backs are.
