1960 Fleer Casper the Friendly Ghost trading cards are one of the hobby’s more popular sets from the era. Not the easiest set to build, it focuses on the popular animated ghost who always struggled to live up to the haunting expectations of his supernatural peers.
The checklist features a total of 66 cards. Designed to resemble a console television set, cards feature images of Casper and other Harvey Comics characters like Baby Huey, Little Aubrey and Wendy the Good Little Witch. There’s a thin white border that gives way to the wooden TV look, complete with a couple of knobs on the side. Cards are captioned just below the image. Backs have short comic strips.
1960 Fleer Casper the Friendly Ghost packs came with six cards with an original price tag of five cents. While unopened packs can still be found today, expect to pay hundreds — if not more for those in top-condition. Boxes had 24 packs.
This is a tough set to find today. The result is strong prices for singles, even those that aren’t in the best shape. Centering is a very common issue with cards.
